Please help I am keeping my friends two dogs until she and her husband can find another place here in town so that she can have them back...The female is a miniature chihuahua and the male is chihuahua and pomeranian mixed...She does not have either fixed so of course they bred and now have 3 beautiful little puppies...Mama dog was more than ready to pop when I brought them here to care for them...She had them on September 18th she had to have little help from me but other than that done good having them...
Well from the time she had them until September 26 when she asked to take them where she is staying for the weekend...Mama dog has done wonderful at feeding and taking care of them producing milk good and all...Well before she took her and the pups I had noticed that the pups were whining more when nursing her and after...They were going from one nipple to the next looking for more to eat...Well I called the vet that morning before she took them and told him what was going on...He told me that since she is so little and they are pretty big that it sounds like they are dragging her down and she may not be producing enough milk...He asked me what her diet was and I told him that I scrambled 2 eggs, add in some of her hard puppy food, plus a little evaporated milk about 2 teaspoons of it...I cook it in the microwave then after it's done I take 2 table spoons of it and 2 table spoons of the wet pedigree puppy and mix it together and add a little extra water because she don't seem to want to get out of her nursing box much and I have been afraid of her getting dehydrated...He told me that the diet was fine but to get a bottle of the 600 mg calcium tablets and crush one up and put it in her food each feeding...
Well I went on to the store before her husband came to pick them up and bought some instead of just sending it with her and it not be done right or not do it at all I poured a whole can of food out into a butter bowl and crushed 3 tablets up and mixed them in...I done 3 because she can usually last on one of the big cans for about 2 days...Well I didn't hear anything from her Friday or Saturday I called her to see how they are doing no answer...Well finally Sunday morning she calls to make sure her husband can bring them back to me Monday morning I told her of course because I had actually kinda missed them...She then comes out and tells me Saturday after noon mama dog got real lathargic she would stand her up and she would fall back over...She checked her to see if she was dehydrated and says she was but I'm not sure how she went down hill so quick when I checked her before she left and she was fine...Well she says she syringed water and milk down her and got her to where she would stand a little and finally got her to drinking from a bowl...
I finally got them back with me Monday afternoon September 26 mama dog still seemed a little dehydrated so I fixed her food up like I did before...She cleaned the bowl and acted like she wanted more so I fixed her half of what I had before and she ate all of that to...Well after she ate that up she came in here got in the box with the pups for them to nurse...When they was nursing they started doing the whining again but kept whining and moving around her and nursing then whining again...I got to wondering if she had any milk at all I checked her and only the 2 breast in back had very little all her others seemed like they was dry...I called the vet and told them what was going on they asked me if I had any evaporated milk here I had one can luckily in the cabinet they said to mix that with half a can of water and I did...I had a syringe and started feeding them they each ate about 3 syringe fulls which is 5 ml's...They were full and quit whining thankfully so since Monday I have been feeding them and she has been trying to nurse she is finally starting to get milk in her other breast...Well hubby and I went on the 1st and bought a kitten bottle and a recipe to make up some formula for them the recipe was given to me by my vet...I have been having trouble getting them to latch on to the kitten bottle and eat I called the vet and asked them what I maybe doing wrong and the assistant I talked with said that the kitten nipple is to small to get a regular puppy bottle and try with it...Well hubby went and got me one this afternoon the biggest one of the litter will latch on good and eat good from it...The other 2 will suck then try to kinda chew on it and just let it go and won't eat from it but are still acting like they are hungry...I don't know what else to do to get them to eat from it...I have been weighing them and the biggest one is gaining good about an ounce a day but the other 2 have stayed right at the same weight for 3 days now...The vet said I am going to have to get the formula in them because they are not actually gaining they are just maintaining there weight...
Also I have I noticed before she had them and now after having them that she walks kinda humped back like she has problems walking in her hind legs...I also have mentioned this to my friend and said oh that's normal she was doing that a little before she got pregnant but got worse as her pregnancy progressed...I told her she don't need to breed again then but just rolled her eyes at me....
My questions are...
What can I do to get them to eat from the bottle?
I let her nurse them first then I feed them from the bottle since they are still hungry...Should I try not letting her nurse first and feed them with the formula first?
Is there anything that I can do to help her to produce more milk?
I am also trying so hard to talk her into not breeding them again and to have them fixed...Her husband is telling her yes but she is wanting to keep breeding and all she keeps saying is I can make money from them...It really upsets me that this is how she treats her dogs like they are money makers...The big pup of the litter my husband and I have fell in love with and are planning on keeping her...I have fell in love with the others but my dad also likes her so I told him we will keep her then...On top of it all after all I have done making sure mama dog is getting plenty of nutrition making sure she is eating good and the pups are eating and gaining...She is wanting me to pay her for the puppy...
I am sorry my post is so long but trying to include everything and give detail as well...I hope I am posting this in the right place....
I talked to her about the pups and mama dog today she is pretty much screaming at me...Told me that I have ruined her mother dog that she will never be able to breed her again...That I have ruined the puppies and that they will have worms and probably get parvo because they are getting people food and not feeding from the mom...The reason she is thinking this is because on the first she talked to her vet and he told her to get human baby formula and mix it like it says on the can and give it to mama dog that it will increase her milk supply...I don't know what vet she talked to but my vet that I know and trust and have went to for years is the one that told me what do to save mama dog and pups...I haven't really given mama dog any of the baby formula because of what I have already given her...But she just keeps going on about not being able to breed her at all again and that I am costing her alot of money that she would be making over the years...She has really gotten to my nerves today and has really upsetted me...Oh then she comes out and says well since you have ruined my mama dog when your 2 pups are 6 months and are in heat I will just use yours and breed them...I told her oh no your not...On July the 5th hubby and I adopted 2 little girls from a friend of mines cousin...They are chihuahua and yorkie mixed one look's like a full blooded chihuahua but the other she has the chihuahua look but fuzzy haired...I have done told her they will not be bred when they are of age they will be fixed I am not going to put them through what she is putting her own through...I just don't know what else to say or do to open her eyes that I am only doing what's right by the puppies and mama dog not what I want to do...A part of me want's to tell her to come and get her dogs and to forget that we ever met but then I know if she was to take them she won't do anything that I am doing to help them...
Is there any articles I can give her to read or any advice that yall have that I can say to her to get her not to breed again?

Thanks in advance
