He isn't shedding.

What is going on here? Our pyr still hasn't even begun to shed. Our akbash is almost done shedding though. I gave his hair a little tug to see if it'd pull out but it's not. He still looks like a winter lion. It's been in the 80s, that has to be killing him. So I figure I'll just shave him but the fact that he's not shedding is concerning isn't it?

I wouldn't shave him, that's generally not recommended for breeds that shed. THe undercoat doesn't just keep them warm, it also keeps them cool, plus dogs have no natural protection from the sun other than fur, unlike humans, who have (literally) thicker skin and the ability to tan.

My double coated dog never shed when I thought he should. Most years, he wouldn't shed until late June, early July. His winter coat wouldn't come in until late December, early January, and it gets cold in PA two to three months before that.

He's never been this late before. He's usually our first shedder. He's 5 so we are fairly familiar with him. This is just so.....odd.

It might be weather related. I don't know about where you are but where I am this past winter, and this spring, has been really strange weather wise. Last month we got down to freezing for a couple nights and that almost never happens at that time of year.
