Foster Kitty Coming Today - Consitpated

Hi All,

I usually post about my pups, but this afternoon, I am getting a foster kitty from a high kill shelter in Quebec. She is coming to me as she needs a home environment to help her along. Apparently, she is quite constipated and needs some TLC to "get her moving". She has been vet checked, and it's not an obstruction, she's just full of poop.

Advice and suggestions are greatly welcomed. She will be going to her permanent rescue on Sunday so I have little time to work with her.

Thanks everyone!

Feed her canned food, at minimum 1/2 canned and 1/2 kibble, but personally I'd go with all canned. Cats are notorious for not drinking enough to stay hydrated on an all kibble diet. It sets them up for constipation, kidney and bladder infections, and bladder stones.

Thank you so much @Rain! I am only feeding her canned right now. She was a very last minute addition to our Easter weekend and there was NOTHING open yesterday so had to buy what was available.....ugh!

I'm going out today and getting her something more high quality. I hope she starts to go soon. She's been hiding and didn't eat her dinner last night. I'm going on a kitty hunt and may have to force feed her. Not looking forward to that task.

I'll keep you all updated.

You're welcome.

If she doesn't go by tomorrow I'd take her to the vet on Monday and see what laxative is recommended.
