Hello all. We have 12 yo old female lab/pitbull mix. Noticed when she’s sleeping she’s been groaning ...more when she stretches or moves in her sleep but now always. Also when she’s sleeping and gets woken up suddenly and barks her bark is really like a weak sore throat type of bark..almost like she’s lost her voice. any idea what could be going on? Vocal cord issue? Thanks a lot.

Its difficult to determine from here as often as dogs get older they make groaning noises & can get a weak voice. mine makes funny noises & she's fine. Altho I notice her voice is a bit croaky until she has a drink if she sings just after a sleep in the sun. However it may be worth getting checked in case its a cold, respiratory infection or throat cancer etc. Make sure its a vet you are sure is competent personable & trustworthy. I've seen/heard that in dogs where they live with people who smoke around their dogs inside for years & dogs that have been yanked around on collars instead of trained on a harness. ?
