I see the price has come down a lot on the Treat and Train remote rewards dog trainer. Was wondering if anyone used or still use it and how successful they were at training behaviors or decreasing/eliminating unwanted behaviors?
I know there are many uses but specifically I would like to use it for "place" behavior...staying on mat, long, down stays, relaxing on mat, etc.
I have two dogs who one will bark at the door knocking, and if the person is not very well known to him will continue barking here and there for a good couple minutes - then he is fine. So my goal with him will be to use it to decrease his initial barking.
My other dog is just an over excited greeter, jumping was a major issue. Now I am able to give him a kong/bully stick and he runs around with it as visitors come in and then relaxes to finish it...problem is that he is an aggressive chewer and even a 18" bully stick or frozen kong he is done with in about 15 min. Then he has trouble just settling when company is over, and normally I have to put him behind a gate/crate for the remainder of the time they are here. He just wants attention or someone to play with (as we don't have company over often he just gets like "oh someone is here, they came for me and want to play with me the entire time" lol. So thought the treat and train might work as it can reward with time in between and last longer.
My only concern is that he becomes reliable or heavily focused on the dispenser rather than the reinforcement coming from me...
