And a blue one too. Somehow I imagine my dad will have a cow when he sees them this evening. LOL. Oh well.

I learned how to chalk dogs today much to the dismay of my dogs. Actually they didn't care at all, haha.

Hai. I'm purple.

You can see the remnants of Summer's disaster dye job here:

Good news is it seems to wash out after a couple washes.

What you do is soak the chalk in water. Then you rub the chalk on. Comb through. Dry it. Then comb the excess off again. Before you comb the excess off a little will get on things. The only issue I've had is that they curled their tails while they were wet and got a little on their backs.

A lot of people use manic panic too but it is semi-permanent. I wanted something that washed out easily.

This is my first time to be brave enough to try something like this LOL. I was meaning to do them red white and blue for the 4th of july parade on saturday but I wanted to see how mia would look in purple.

Red, white and blue, that would have been something. With the natural red and white of summer and the blue addition you got one patriot, lol, you just went a little off with mia.

Thanks for the instructions. I'll have to remember that. Someday. Not enough hair to do it now. LOL And I thought that little spl.ash of color on their backs was intentional. DIdn't realize it was from their tails. haha

LOL!! LOVE the new 'do's!! (I think that Summers' little blue foot is hilarious too) have NEVER heard of this technique before! Now, you have got me eyeballin' my DD's sidewalk chalk bucket :)
Leif would be up for a splash of color, but, Laik probabally would give this idea 2 paws down & a grrrrr!

OK this is the adult in me showing through so beware. Also this is just a warning to anyone in Texas that wants to do this. I personally don't care as long as it is non toxic. ;)

Texas has laws that do not allow for the dying of animal coverings (i.e. feathers, fur, etc.) It carry's a stiff fine and can lead to animal cruelty charges.

Once again, Just a heads up for those in Texas.

Carry on.

:hammer: Nuts to you! The one on the right is me, and the one on the left is the adult in you!

Just saying...After all, I was threatened by "THE MAN" when they saw a cockatoo that I worked with had dyed his own feathers red. Parrot toys are colored with food coloring that usually end up in their bath water.

Ok, the new little lady has invited me over for Hickory smoked Baby back ribs and a special treat before I head into work. I must attend.:p

Chat later.

Interesting SH! I can see why because some dyes could certainly be harmful...but chalk..hmmm...I think Mikey might be going pink soon!

Suger free coolaid works realy good and it comes out easy. I use manic panic on my own hair. I dont think I would ever use it on a dog O_O

sorry but I dont get it
With all respect to those who do colour their pets , my opinion is that any animal looks better as nature intended them

*shrug*

I don't color my pets often (actually this was the first time I ever have). It washed out completely and they're now back to 'normal'.

If you don't like it fine, but I dont' see the big deal AT ALL to be honest. Don't like it, then don't color your dogs. ;)

They look cute no matter what color they are :]

SH that's very interesting about the law in TX- is it any more specific? Because I know quite a few people who have dyed their animals, and I know a groomer who does creative grooming with her standard poodle.
