Yes we have 5 cats and two dogs, a desert tortoise and a pond full of fish. My daughter had rats but I really don’t care for them and was glad when she moved them out. This was not planed and only happened because we have a big heart. I have always loved cats, but didn’t want them because of the damage they can do to my new leather furniture plus we thought my wife was allergic to them.
My daughter came under hard times and needed to move back home so I had to change the rules since she already had a cat. And then a kitten showed up in the engine compartment of my truck so my other daughter wanted it and since I had already changed the rules, I couldn’t say no.
The other three cats were born in my back yard from a stray that lost its owner to sickle cell anemia and moved in under a shed. It was killed along with some other kittens by some dogs leaving 3 very young kittens totally defenseless.
My dog Paige immediately adopted the kittens without our consent and it was winter so we brought them inside to be warm and safe. the three actualy slept with Paige and she protected them from the other 2 adult cats and our other dog Sadie.
We paid for their shots and had all three fixed. We planned to let them back out in the spring, but found out a neighbor was possibly poisoning stray cats so they have been with us ever since.
