Purina RX cat food recall

Looks like Purina is recalling an RX cat food for low levels of thiamine discovered by FDA testing after a complaint was filed with the FDA. This recall is unrelated to the salmonella recalls.

The one thing that was odd to me was this. . .

"This product was distributed to veterinary clinics between June, 2011 and May, 2012 throughout the U.S. and Canada. The product is not sold in retail stores."

It sounds like this product has possibly been on the shelves for almost a year, and they're just recalling it now?

Interesting.

The salmonella issue has apparently been going on since October of last year. I read it in one of the many articles. Its silly how long it takes items to be recalled.
