Puppies and drive ins?

Good evening everyone,

My husband and I like to go to the drive in a lot but now with Samie home I'm a little worried. We usually leave around 8 and don't get home until around 1 or so(double feature and all) so I was wondering if it was safe to bring her with us, or to leave her home alone that long?

Why not bring her with? I mean it's in your car. I bring Batty to the boat for the entire weekend. Just make sure you can walk Samie when needed. I don't know exactly how old she is but take along some clean up baggies so you don't leave a mess behind and take her.

She's almost 8 weeks old. I want to bring her with us, I'm pretty sure it's okay with the people at the drive in, I was just wondering because she's so little.

My little girl just turned 9 weeks. As long as you can manage to give her the chance to go potty when needed, I think she'd love going along. Of course, I don't know how she feels about cars. I know Batty doesn't mind the car as long as she's with us. If Samie doesn't get carsick, she'll probably just curl up and take a nap on your lap while you watch the movie, just like at home.

She absolutely loves the car. Although she can't decide between my husbands lap or mine, so she bounces back and forth alot lol. We live about an hour and a half away from where we got her and she did amazing, didn't get carsick or anything.

I take my dogs to the drive-in all of the time!
As long as you follow the rules (no excessive barking, clean up after your dog, must be unleash and under control, etc.) Then it should be just fine!
I would call and double check that your drive-in allows dogs though.

Oh! Be sure to bring her crate/bed, a water dish, a few toys and tasty treats for rewarding good behavior!

I think both is fine! :)

I have only been to a drive in once-because we just don't have them in Canada. There was one in Winnipeg, and I went-I even ended up in their paper! But they closed it down and I don't know of ANY. Which stinks-that was a BLAST!

But yeah a few hours at home is fine, and I don't see why the pup can't come with you! Especially if you don't have the volume up too too loud. ;)

Man, you guys are really making me "revisit" my past...when GOING to a "drive-in" WAS possaible:(...they have been gone from my area for at least 15-20 yrs. or so...&, I MISS them to bits!! But, if I still had the option of visiting one w/my dogs now? Holy Cow!! :) I would take them w/me w/o a nano-second of "thinking it over first" LOL...

Why are they gone? I don't get it-it's a WICKED idea!!! WE might actually see a movie in theatre if Mikey could come!

Do most drive ins allow it? We tried calling ours but they just have a recording. We're bringing her anyway, I don't think anyone could say no to her cute little face, lol.

No drive ins in Northern Kentucky, either. We had them here when I was a kid, but the closest one closed down nearly 20 years ago, I think. It was sad--drove by and it was a run down screen. :(

I think hubby and I would go to more movies if we could stay in the car...sometimes theater crowds around here aren't the most polite. Plus, If I wanted to wear my PJ's and take my dogs, I could!

We only have one drive in here, that's about a half hour away. It's open every night, two screens each with a double feature. I love it, I'd never been to a drive in before but now I'm hooked. We go every Thursday(that's when they change the movies and it's never crowded on a Thursday! lol) I love it because you dont' have to listen to everyone talking through out the entire movie which gets annoying lol. We never go to the theatre anymore. lol

I just found out that although Kentucky may not have a lot of theaters near me, there are a few north in Ohio.

You may want to check the policy of the theater you are going to--I just saw that one of the Ohio theaters doesn't permit pets, but another lets them in.
