I feed about 3 oz two times a day of Evo for my 8 lb. cat, and she maintains a fairly healthy weight at that (she tends to gain very easily and we give her treats on and off). I've also given her Felidae when it was on sale, but she didn't like it much. Like Tess, I feel that lower quantity of a grain free would be healthier than more quantity of a diet food, although Chicken Soup for the Pet Lover's Soul has a diet canned cat food that looks decent.

Is she acting starving at all, or is her behavior normal?

Sorry I should have said according to the wet food she was feeding it said to feed a 6lb cat 2 3oz cans. Just like dry food, the better the food the less you feed.

Just because the cat seems healthy other than being overweight does not mean its not medical....

MSH has said the cat is active, so the thought of the cat being lazy is out the window.

as for diet food I agree diet formulas are not always going to be great foods, rather a better quality food. Hopefully its just the food, but I am sure if she doesn't start losing weight the vet will decide to run some tests.

Her behavior is normal she's just, like I've said fat. weighing in at 11 pounds no is not a big deal but it can become one which is why i'm changing her diet now.

I do think the food is what caused it which is why I'm hoping to find some others to look into.
