She is finally here!! Rowan is a female cat I believe no more than a year old who had a litter of 7 kittens, (brown tabbys, like her color and grey tabby kittens, like dad's color). She was from a military family who had to travel and her and her sister were dropped off at the shelter. I don't know how she became pregnant, but she came to the vet's office where I work to stay during her pregnancy and give birth. She was called Chica at the vet's but I didn't like the name for some reason. An interesting coincidence is that one of the receptionists went to the shelter one day and adopted a female cat and it turned out to be Rowan's sister! Apperantly her sister have the same sweet as can be personality. The runt of Rowan's litter eventually passed away and soon she started to foster 2 small black Tortie kittens that a lady couldn't care for anymore and were a bit smaller than her own kittens. She took to them right away like she gave birth to them herself.

Yesterday, my work was talking about how it was time to start finally finishing weaning the kittens and drying up mom so she could be spayed and the kittens could be fixed and start going to their new homes. The best way to do that would be to separate mom from babies so kittens would eat strictly solid foods and so mom's hormones would start to slow milk production due to lack of kittens suckling and not having the stimuli of them to make her hormones work like a momma cat's hormones. So until she is dried up and is ready to get spayed she is home with me! So exciting!!!! :D

Anyways, here are Pics of the little gal. Oh! SHe also met Emmy, and was unruffled and not really scared of her, but was wary cus Emmy was acting like an idiot as usual :eyeroll:, but Emmy did pretty well for the most part and mostly listened and licked the cat multiple times :)

Emmy thinks the cat is like a dog and is over exuberant and tries to play bow to her, I am worried she will get too rough and hurt her and Rowan hasn't shown signs of wanting to swat her, which worries me, cus Emmy doesn't get told when to back off. SHe tries to lick Rowan all over though. but is too into her.

Ohhh I can see from her eyes-she's smart!!! Beautiful too! Are you going to 'fail at fostering'?

Thanks :)

Anyone know how to calm Emmy down while I do short intros with them?

She treats her like a dog (ROUGH!) she play bows and licks her all over but I am scared her strength might hurt the cat. Rowan isn't showing signs of swatting at her to tell her off either.. Which I wish she would do at least once. Instead, the Rowan keeps coming up to Emmy and rubbing against her while Emmy is trying to playbow :eyeroll:

While the cat is out Emmy is so hyper and excited she acts like a dork trying to please me and forgets she has at least 1/2 a brain and while she listens for the most part, I can recall and make her sit, back up on stairs and go to the landing up the first part of the stairs, she is wayy too exuberant and tries to eat my hand off as I am feeding her treats. SIGHHH! She has no clue she is 8 yrs old.

Kiwi did that with the new cat here. I just started hand feeding her, while she was in a down, with the cat in the room. Did that for like three days, and then she stopped caring about the cat. Not sure if that will work for you :)

Same thing here, my cats will NOT swat the dogs, even if they are being a bit "too much" , kinda annoying because you som'times want the cat to tell the dog to knock it off...

If I have food in my hand for the most part Emmy will keep her attention on me. I will continue to feed while the cat is out and see how that goes.
