Kittens shot by "humane" officer

We're Beyond Outrage:

And the award for a-hole of the year goes to “humane” officer Barry Accorti of North Ridgeville, Ohio, for pulling out his gun and shooting and killing a litter of five innocent kittens.

If you haven’t seen this story, let me recap: Accorti was dispatched to a home where a woman complained of a mom feral cat and some kittens living in a woodpile near her home. She said they were a nuisance, leading fleas into her house and leaving dead wildlife in her yard. She wanted them removed for the health of her family, she said.

Accorti, who is a retired police sergeant and now a part-time humane officer, arrived shortly after receiving the call. With the homeowner and mother of four standing by, he found the family of cats in the woodpile and told her that the shelters were full, and that the cats would go to “kitty heaven.“
This is one of the most vile acts I can imagine, and the kicker is that the local police chief supports the decision. The Ohio SPCA's Facebook link is in the article, and you can keep abreast of their efforts to have Accorti brought up on charges of animal cruelty. Many are contacting major news networks to spread the word; I sent in an email to CNN this morning.

There is also a petition to help spread the word: http://www.thepetitionsite.com/162/...6/prosecute-humane-officer-who-shoot-and-killed-5-kittens-while-children-watch/

That is animal cruelty in the first degree.
Suspend him without pay, and not be allowed to ever own an animal of any kind.
Gosh, what ever happened to a code of ethics?

I don't know what sort of "ethical" principles Accorti believes he has, but word IS spreading of this atrocity. The petition's gaining signatures, and news channels are starting to pick up the story.
