Since I am from Slovenia and know the breed very well i can tell you the answer right away: there is no chance of your dog being a Karst Shepard.

Karst Shepards are known for their utter devotion to their owners and their temperaments. You described your dog as an angel in the house. A Karst Shepard would tear your house apart if you weren't experienced and consistent in disciplining him. They are always on alert and extremely clever (not like a lab at all LOL) if you tell them to do something they will think about it and decide on their own if they want to do it or not, they will never submit to their owner. They also do not trust strangers. At all. Bribing one of them is a mission impossible. They have a mind of their own and are hard to train.

As for someone from Slovenia dumping him here, nobody would bring their dog along to another country just so they could get rid of him/her.

You're right that does sound like something a Karst would do. They are pretty fantastic guard dogs. Will not trust a stranger no matter what. I wish my dog was more like them.

I described the basic characteristics of the breed (acknowledged by FCI), there are of course always exceptions (you have to take training and background in consideration) but in general the Karst Shepard is a very active and a dominant breed, females are known to be a lot more gentle and therefore more appropriate for owners with less experiences.

I own a 110 ilb mix. Cute but very aggressive, always have to psychically restrain him from attacking other dogs (he was in dog school and passed his exams). I have relatives who own Karst Shepards.
