We lost our beloved beagle Rascal a year ago on April 22nd. We adopted Suki our 5 year old tuxedo type cat almost a year ago now.
Due to how much dogs like 'cat cookies' we don't think we will be getting another dog for awhile.:)

Welcome!
Just curious, as I have a dog and a cat who get along great- do you want another dog, or do you not want one at this point? Because dog-cat coexistence (and even friendship) is certainly possible with proper training and household manners (no cat-chasing, not litter-box raiding, no dog-biting, no eating the other's food)... if that's what you want.
But anyway, that's my little rabbit trail, I suppose, so back to the point- welcome, and I hope you find this forum pleasant and helpful :)

Hi. Welcome to the forum.

This is down to training and/or management'. Many people have both dogs and cats and I'm sure their dogs don't Gert much chance to eat from the litter tray - certainly not regularly.

However...

Thanks for welcoming me. I guess we maybe might not be a 2 pet house hold. Another thing I don't think we are over Rascal yet. She got along fine with cats and every body and other creature.
That's an entirely different thing altogether. If you're not ready, you're not ready. It's that simple.

Kitty rocca? Its not something all dogs do...in fact its really a small percentage. Its kinda like Pica, My dog is one of those few. I know of no dog training method to keep a dog from eating cat poo if they are inclined to. How would you go about it? He is 12 years old now and lived with two cats until he was seven. I gave up trying to stop him from doing it a long time ago.

Actually the majority of dogs will eat cat poop if given the opportunity. It's tasy to them.

There are many ways to keep a dog from getting into the cat box. Easiest is to put the box in a room and use a baby gate to keep the dog out.

Enclosed boxes, top entry boxes and cat box "cupboards" can help.

And, most importantly, daily scooping of cat feces.

The simple truth is you aren't ready for another dog. The rest is immaterial. Enjoy your cat. When you're ready to get another dog, you'll know. At that time, you'll be ready to take on whatever it brings.

Don't feel pressured into getting another dog. That will just create problems.
