Cat Peeing/Pooping on Puppies Things

I'm having a real problem with my cat. He's nine-years-old, neutered, deaf, and kind of an idiot - I love him, but it's true. Prior to the puppy coming home, he spent most of his time in my bedroom with me, but he can't now since the puppy stays here. I leave the door open for the cat to come in at night when the puppy is crated, but lately the cat has been coming in just to pee and/or poop on and around the puppies things - his bed, his toys, etc.
He isn't ill, he just had his annual wellness check-up and is in perfect health, so all I can figure is that he is being spitey, but he's going to have to get over it. I can't have him peeing in the puppies beds every night. I can't really lock him out either, though, because he'll spent literally the entire night screaming bloody murder outside my bedroom door unless I let him in.

I'm hoping maybe there are a few cat people who might be able to give me some advice.

Could be stress-related. With potty accidents and behavior in the cats I've had, the only thing that's really worked is management. If you aren't able to keep your door shut, can you hide the bed and toys in a closet? Where is his litter box in relation to your room? Is he having any other accidents, or just on the puppy's stuff? Have you thought of putting a kitty bed in your room near the puppy's stuff and treating the cat for being there? That could help him associate the puppy's area as his as well, and he might be less inclined to pee on everything.

The litter box is across the hall, in the laundry room. He's only had "accidents" in my room, on the puppies stuff. He already has a couple of beds in here that he sleeps in sometimes, up on shelves where the puppy can't get him, but most of the time he doesn't want to be in here during the day, only at night (I guess because the puppy is locked away at night.)

Taking the puppies stuff away doesn't seem to make a difference. He peed in his bed the night before last, so last night I took the bed away, and he just pooped on the floor where the bed usually is.

It might not bug me so much except that usually the puppy finds it before I do and eats some of it before I can grab him.

I've never tried this with a cat, but it works for dogs. Every night put a few bowls of cat food in the spots he's gone in. I would continue to lift up the puppies stuff nightly, and still clean with an enzyme cleaner.

That's interesting, I'll try that. Thanks!

I always scrub the areas with Nature's Miracle.

In a week or two we'll be tearing up the carpet and putting down flooring, too; do you think it will help?
