But you have to look at the good side, it might have been only an abrasion to Mom's eye, and with medication she hopefully will not be blinded.

Are you sure it was a bite, and not a angry scratch?

I wish I had a solution for you.

Yea, he bites and doesn't let go until he thinks he can get to the other cat. :(

Seems to be it only damaged the cornea though and everything else is fine, so that is a huge plus. She's going to be in pain for a while but if she's careful there's a good chance of recovering full vision...it could be much worse. :(

I love how understanding people can be.

"You need to get over it"

And then they wonder why I can be so negative...

It only matters if it happens to them, everyone else is below their compassion. Avoid these people, they are not worth your breath.

The worst part is that it came from a relatively close friend...:(

She's making the comparison that because her family gets sick easily and her mom is going blind slowly it's exactly the same. =\ Even if it were...why do people think they get to choose how you feel? I mean, *I* don't even get to choose.

I don't know how to help my mom. The humane society won't even take him or look for another home because of his history. She's a wreck and Fuzz is trying to be the cutest thing ever :(

There's a few but they all run similarly to the humane society...And my mom doesn't want to give him up either, but she just doesn't have the skills to help him :( The cat population in my area is crazy and the shelters are already exploding...he's mostly bad with other cats, I don't think he'd last a few hours, even crated...

The vet originally told us to put him down at 1-2 years and he's 8 now so at least he got that extra time...I wish it helped. The comments my mom keeps making are heartbreaking :(

Just an off the wall idea.

Remember that guy from Animal planet that helps people with their problem cats? Can't remember his name other than Jackson Galaxy , I think, someone help with the name please.

Try contacting animal planet to see if you can get a hold of him.

I know it's way out there, but I'm digging into my memory bank to come up with a solution.

Maybe you can be one of lucky ones and get "The Cat Daddy" to help you or your mom.
Glad to hear your mom will likely make a full recovery. That must have been scary beyond belief. Kudos also to her for not yet having given up on Kitty. (Sorry I seem to have forgotten your Kitty's name, I'm deplorable with names).

We did...the main problem is that if he slips up again (which is fairly likely, all it takes is for someone to not be paying full attention) then what happens when he hurts the kid, or someone else...or if she were to actually lose her eye....My mom knows she'll end up 'making excuses' for him. And if her parents find out, she's not going to hear the end of it, ever. Her parents don't understand pets at all (they have a dog, but in Msia it's common to have a dog locked in a crate all day and only let out once a day for exercise (off leash) and in general the attitude is very different-if he were to show any signs of aggression they wouldn't hesitate in beating the dog or putting him down. Really, I don't think she can keep him-there will be more and more issues and there's too much of a mental barrier to work around, regardless of how much she tries.

She's called and heard back from a lot of the shelters-eve the ones that aren't full won't take him because he's not adoptable. :(

I sent her your link, maybe it will help...She's going to email him and we're hoping for the best. I really hope she gets a reply saying he's going to help, this cat is just REALLY fearful and territorial and other than that he's so sweet and is perfectly fine normally...:(

I'm starting to think that Mom may sugar coat it too much, and perhaps you should do the emailing, and be as factual as you can.
I'm just getting that feeling.
