I wonder how dangerous it is?
In australia we have an athritis drug approved for cats. One dose caused kidney disease in my cat. I wont dare touch any other athritis drug on my cat ever
Sorry but I have no idea and just posted it as a public service message for cat owners. Perhaps interested people can request safety data from our FDA and/or the drug's manufacturer.

I have a cat that is on Metacam off label for arthritis. My feeling is that at 15 anything that improves her quality of life is better than living the rest of her life in pain. Can it cause renal/liver issues sure. But she was to the point that she couldn't jump up or down from anything without collapsing on the floor. She slept most of the day and did not want to eat. Her life was miserable. Doc had me start the Metacam and she is a new cat. She has an appetite she jumps up and down without pain and does steps. It is a tradeoff that i am willing to take. I take quality of life over quantity of life every time.
