So, long story short my cat has been backed into a diagnosis of atypical FIP, since she is an 8 year old with few symptoms etc. A diagnosis of exclusion pretty much that I don't fully buy into (probably just denial, I admit). It's either that or something the specialist says is only documented in 5 other cats in the world thus far and no one knows much about. Awesome, right?
I've done everything I could with conventional medicine and am now looking for alternative. Unfortunately there isn't a holistic vet anywhere within a 60 or so mile radius of me so since some of you seem up on holistics, I figured I'd see if anyone has any thoughts.
Her current symptoms are chronic diarrhea (large bowel) and waxing and waning appetite and lethargy. The most significant finding on bloodwork done yesterday was severely low platelet count.
She's currently on high dose prednisolone, metronidazole, Clavamox and mirtazapine. Probiotic capsules and paste did nothing for the diarrhea.
Any thoughts on what could perk her up a bit without causing food aversion? Anyone know of anything that's supposed to stimulate bone marrow? I know I'm reaching, but I'll try anything that won't cause her more harm.
Thanks for any input.
