My husband was walking the dogs this morning and saw a worm wiggling around on Jav's poop. He knew to take it back, but in is panic grabbed Jav's poop in the same bag as Fin's.

At home I carefully put them into a jar (it all looks identical), but couldn't see anything wriggling or out of the ordinary.

He thinks it was about 1/2", thinner than spaghetti but slightly thicker than string, non-segmented, with a flat head. It had been really wriggling around.

Jav had a heartworm shot before we got him, and he's never eaten dog feces. Only thing they've gotten into was some damn goosepoop about 3 weeks ago at the dog park. He does clean his feet meticulously for about half an hour after we get in from walking, and we go all over - mostly on cement but also through a park, so possibly could have picked something up that way too.

I just had oral surgery and had hoped to sleep most of today (I'm using sleep instead of pain meds) save a quick trip outside with them - husband is gone until the afternoon. I don't think seeing the vet immediately as opposed to tomorrow morning would make any difference, but please correct me if I'm wrong.

I've been googling but haven't found a great identifying site - does anyone have a good link? I could get another sample that's just his later today, or one tomorrow morning if a morning stool is better. Jav also sleeps under the covers cuddled up to me, so the type of worm (and if it can transfer too humans) is concerning; I also don't know if they should be sleeping on their same blankets or what to do. :(

Wow, that is quite concerning, has he had any medical problems with worms before? make sure to do a good checkup with the vet to check what might be the problem, I think it's possible that he may have eaten something that you haven't noticed. I really hope he's ok, best of luck to you.

We've only had him since November and he'd just been neutered and was pretty shut down by his past experiences. He's a happy, loving little guy. My only concerns with him are his nails and his teeth, definitely not tummy stuff.

I just took him out for a good walk, and he didn't poop so nothing to check. But right before we left he was scooting on the carpet, something I've never seen him do.

They're curled up next to me and he just did a little moaning sigh; I think he's done this for a few days, but with me being under the weather I figured it was just him making snuggle sounds (and it could be).

I'm sure good stool samples tomorrow will be enough for the vet to check, and we'll get them both checked since they sleep cuddled up in the same places. Just hoping it's nothing that can be transferred to humans, yuckers.
