My dog's name is Timmy and he's a 5 year old peekapoo.

A little background: I adopted him when he was a puppy and I brought him home where I already had a 2 year old pug. They lived together for the next five years. Then, my partner and I broke up and I took Timmy only. He now lives with me and a cat (that was brought into the house when he was about a year old). I live alone.

Timmy is very good with people. He is very friendly and never bites. Children irritate him a little, but he's fine with all other people. The issue we have is that he goes crazy around other dogs. He is very aggressive towards them when they are at a distance. When they are closer he become skittish.

Is this because I never socialized him properly around other dogs? And if so, is it too late to correct that? And if not, how can I do that?

Thanks!

Hmm its hard to tell since I'm not there but it sounds like he probably is fearful of other dogs.
There are ways to help him, its not to late :)

This sticky has some games you can try that will help your dog see other dogs as something that means good things instead of a scary bad thing.

If possible you could also contact a good trainer :)

We did it by giving treats when we saw another dog. Make seeing other dogs a really good thing. Use very high quality treats like real meat. Make it special and only give those when you go walking. These are really good.
