I was walking the dogs today and had them off lead, I walk them by a river well away from any roads, and also there is a fence before the road so I think that its ok to let them off as they are quite good, anyway today this stupid person really tested my patience today.

I was walking along when this man with a labrador come towards me, and it was quite overweight, you could tell that from a distance bless it, anyway the man come up to me and goes you shouldn't have Greyhounds off lead, when I said that they aren't Greyhounds but a Lurcher and a Longdog to which he replied that he thought that they wern't Greyhounds as they were too well behaved :rolleyes: but said that if they were Lurchers said that I shouldn't have them off either, and a longdog is apparently a made up term like the doodle dogs to make them more wanted by people who think that a label makes a difference to a dog :rolleyes:.

After this he asked what rescue I got them from and I said I never I had them since they were puppies from people in the local paper, but apparently according to him you can't get dogs like them from puppies, only people who want to work them breed them, and drown all the ones that they don't want, so you can only get them from rescue centres if the working poeple don't kill the dogs once they have finished working them :rolleyes: and if I feed them a bit more I would see that they were other breeds and not a Lurcher and Longdog then he went on to ask me what breeds I was told was in them, so I said that Honey is a Saluki X Grey and Diesel is 3/4 Grey and 1/4 German Shepard, and then he told me that I was really taken for a ride, as Diesel is too friendly to have GSD in him, he started saying some more things but at this point I just got fed up.

I walked away after this as I was so fed up but before I did I told him that he is speaking a load of rubbish, I know my dogs and I know that they are ok off lead there, that he even said that they were well behaved, and I would appreite it if he didn't try to insult my intelligance by saying that they wern't what I said they were as they so obviously are, and don't try hinting that I'm not feeding them enough, espcailly when his dog is so big, and that Labradors have been one of the most common breeds of dog to bite at one point, and I myself have been pinned up by two labs when I was working at some boarding kennels, but it doesn't mean that every Lab is going to be nasty, far from it, just like German Shepards its a case of judging a dog as a indivual and then before labeling a dog look at the way that its brought up and the handler, as that is what is more then likely going to create a dangerous dog, and does create a lot more dangerous dogs then being a certain breed does, but after I said all this and walked away he started shouting swear words at me :rolleyes:

Sorry for the long thead though people.

I was kind of hoping that he would wear himself out, a few people round here know nothing about my dogs, but then know everything about them ;) but I'm so fed up with it now, and am currently looking to do a exchange else where lol.

Wow, I hate people like that, people used to give me all kinds of crap about my Bullmastiff, including calling him an overweight Boxer, or a retarded Dogue De Bordeaux (wtf? lol)

I hate people like that too. Someone tried to tell me that my Doberman wasn't a real Dobie because she's red and not black. I've also been given dirty looks at the local park (not a dog park and by a highway) because I have a large dog that's on a lead yet their little shih tzu wasn't.

You should get a blue one to lol, then see what they say, and why do people feel the need to judge you because you have your dog safely on a lead and use your brains and they don't?

Oh and one of them white ones, although I'm sure that the white dobes are meant to be inbred, but you could borrow a white one and a blue and tan one and walk down the road with your one and see what people say then lol.

Yeah, I'm actually wanting an albino. ^-^ My dog's mother is white and so was her grandmother. Most of her family members were fawn(Isabella) and red. It's just funny how people think they know more about your dog then you do. (;

Are they actually inbred or is that what people say, because I mentioned that I liked them once on another forum some time last year and got shot down for it saying that I'm selfish for wanting one and that the dogs suffer because of people like me, or is it just people saying that because the dogs are different?

They were inbred waaaayyy down the line I believe but since then it really has no effect on the dogs. They're just as intelligent as any of the other colors. And they don't have anymore health concerns than any other healthy Doberman.

Oh ok then, so it must of been at one point their was a change in the DNA structure and it produced a mutant (hate that term for dogs lol) colour change then, but I suppose if you look for a good breeder then it would be fine, just like any other dog, mind you I also like long haired rotties lol.

Yeah I guess you could say there is a mutant color. Lol. I like long haired rotties too. One thing that's funny about my dog is that she has white hairs on her back and neck but only a few.

Bless her, I wonder if she has a chance if she was mated to produce white pups then?

I've researched that and only if the male has the Z gene (the mutant gene) too can they produce albino puppies. But, I took her to the vet the other day and she either has a uterus or bladder infection so we may just get her spayed and buy another puppy.

Bless them, but then there are a lot of other breeds that the whites can have problems, even my fav the Bull terrier, but many people don't think twice about breeding them :(
