I'd be interested to hear what other dog owners do regarding keeping their pet's teeth clean.

You can get special toothbrushes for dogs and dog toothpaste too.

has anyone ever had problems with canine teeth (not from a bite!) ?

I don't brush as often as we should but I do brush their teeth. I use a dog toothpaste and brush. Only problem I've ever had is sometimes Taz tries to eat the brush.

I brush their teeth, use a water additive and give them raw meaty bones to chew. Works very well. :)

I brush Olive's teeth every couple of days. I use one of those special finger brushes and vanilla flavored toothpaste that she likes to lick off her lips. :D

I also have Old Mother Hubbard's fresh breath treats with peppermint in them. Olive was a stray for a good few months and her teeth aren't as nice as a 9 month old's should be, so I try to take really good care of her teeth. It would be a lot easier if she'd eat the bones I got her!

Brushing is only effective if done daily. You can find appropriate sized tooth brushes from petstores or your veterinarian, as well as pet safe toothpaste.

For my current guy, he doesn't tolerate it well. I use a water additive for him and he will be going in for his first dentistry Feb 1st.

We don't brush his teeth. He has raw bones, chew toys and then these amazing plastic bones from the pound shop...they're flat with spiky plastic, and when he chews them up they're great for teeth cleaning.
