Every night around 730 my 5 year old dog whines and barks to get our attention. He won't come up to see us on the couch when we call like normal, he has plenty of food and water, he has just gone potty and been for a walk. This usually lasts 30 minutes to an hour. We can't figure out what's going on. He has a clean bill of health. Anyone have ideas?

Dogs are very smart and can pick up on the behaviour of their owners. So right now, at 7.30 you're probably starting to worry. 'Is he gonna bark?' and your dog will pick up on that! Just try to be relaxed and break this routine he's in. Try to go for a walk a little later than usual. I hope this helps; it never hurts to try! But whatever you do, do not respond to this behaviour. If your dog wants attention, and you get mad, he gets your attention. Just ignore and stay calm and change up your routine!!

Love,
Valerie

When a dog starts to exhibit behavior that is out of the norm it is best to to do a timeline to the time it began. Look and see what changed at the same time this behavior began. Dogs can react to the smallest of changes in their life routine. Even a change in their human companions health can create behavioral changes. Once you see what caused the behavior change will be able to deal with it appropriately.
