Which name do you like better for a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever?

My husband and I would like to get a Nova Scotia Duck Tolling Retriever and last night we discussed the idea of using a list of municipalities in Nova Scotia to find a name. We each found one on the list we liked. Which do you think makes a better name:

  • Argyle
  • Halifax

I like Argyle better.

Halifax, for me, only conjures up one thing, Halifax NS so it is a lot more 'heavy handed' for a NSDTR. Kind of like naming your Great Dane Copenhagen

Argyle, it's probably best known as a region of Scotland and a pattern on sweaters/socks, and IIRC a Scottish clan name. I think it would be a good name for any dog, especially good for a NSDTR

Hal-i-fax and Arg-y-le have the same amount of syllables...so I don't see how that's a determining factor between the two choices. I also don't think 3 syllables is overly long for a dog's name.

Argyle is two syllables. Ar Gyle
