We had a heck of a time finding boots for the minpin, legs like sticks and everything fell off. A friend picked up some very basic booties for us to try, just a short sock made of a very light felt material, pad sewn on and a velcro strap. They don't fall off.
What size and brand of dog boots to get
I have a small blue heeler/shorthair pointer mix (I think--she was a rescue) who I need to get boots for. We have tons of goatheads (a.k.a. puncture vine) around our neighborhood and she gets them stuck in her paws and limps the rest of the day.
The problem is she's a medium sized dog, about 40lbs, but she has tiny feet; most brands it seems she is an x-small.
Her feet are 2" wide and 2.5" long, but most bootie brands seem to be wider than the are long, and I'm not sure how close to her actual size I have to be; do they run big or small?
She's also very active, so I need something that stays on really well, but I'm not sure what types are prone to fall off.
