What food would you recommend for a dog who has a sensitive stomach? He's a 6 1/2 month old Siberian Husky. He gets diarrhea very easily and drinks excessively (to the point he makes himself sick). We've taken him to the vet to rule out any medical issues going on and I believe it's diet related. He's on Gravy Train currently out of desperation as it's the only thing he's done decently on. He's been on Kibbles 'n Bits (vet rec. which is why I'm on here instead), Pure Balance and Blue Buffalo in the past. He also can't have any treats due to it triggering it bad. When this happens he'll poo and pee in his crate and generally act like he just don't feel good. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

I take it that the Blue Buffalo give him stomach issues, as well?
I would think that the Gravy Train and Kibbles 'n Bits would be really rough, since they contain more things that dogs tend to have issues with.
Since you have tried some better foods like Blue Buffalo and Pure Balance, I'm wondering if a freeze-dried raw diet would be better. If you have it in your area, perhaps give Stella and Chewy's a try? My cats actually liked it with more water added than what the packaging suggests, because it made it more "gravy" like.

Now, I will warn you that Stella and Chewy's just recently had a voluntary recall on their food, as they suspected there might be issues with Listeria. However, there have been no issues with dogs (or people or cats) getting sick, and it's a high-quality food that my cats loved. I don't have a dog yet to try it out on, but it's very popular at the local shops here. It is also, unfortunately, quite expensive. However, if your dog does well on it, you can switch to something with a few more ingredients (I personally would suggest Orijen) and maybe work out just what it is that's upsetting the pup's tummy.

I would try something with moisture already in it. Cheep dry kibble can cause excessive thirst. I would also try a single meat food. Sometimes the mixture of meats can cause stomach issues with a sensitive dog. Try this and see how it goes. It is in the refrigerator section at petco, petsmart and also walmart and safeway in the pet department. The 6 pound roll cost about 17.00

I also have a husky with a sensitive stomach! Having a grain free food really made a difference with him. We've gone from blue wilderness, to Merrick, to Acana.
Acana is pretty pricey if you can't go that route I know quite a few people who feed Taste of the Wild who have grain free lines and you can get 30lb bags for around 40dollars! Earthborn is great too. These are just suggestions but are all rated 4.5 stars + on dogfoodadvisor.com
We have to be reasonable with treats. One or two a day and that's it or he starts getting soft.
Make sure you switch foods in a timely manner.
Day 1 – Mix 20% of the new food with 80% of the old.
Day 2 – Mix 40% of the new food with 60% of the old.
Day 3 – Mix 60% of the new food with 40% of the old.
Day 4 – Mix 80% of the new food with 20% of the old.
Day 5 – Feed 100% of the new food.

Thank you all so much for your recommendations! We went out today and got "Pure Balance Grain Free Formula, Salmon & Pea Recipe" as he was on the "Pure Balance Chicken & Brown Rice Recipe" before which had grains in it and didn't do great. Since grain free food was recommended and it was readily available (with three big dogs we need one that's readily available!) we figured we'd give it a try. Once we see how this goes we're gonna try the "Wild & Free Bison and Pea Recipe" too since it's grain free as well. Fingers crossed he does well on them!
If he doesn't do well on this we're gonna try the Taste of the Wild grain free (as recommended above) since it's the next closest (we live in a small town, not much here) and then the Vital loaf (the closest store that has it is about 30 minutes away). Once again thank you so much! I'll update in a few days to let you know how it's going.
