What Am I (Besides God's Gift to mankind) :)

Back in April, I ran away (or was taken away) from my abusive home. It was a stormy night with tornadoes in the area. I found myself on the patio of a kind stranger....I've heard her say it was raining cats and dogs that night and the storm dropped me here :) I was wet, cold, starving, full of fleas, shot and scared. My new mommy told me everything would be alright. She feed me PEOPLE food :p because she didn't have any dog food and a bowl of warm milk. After my belly was full and I was relaxed, I fell asleep on her feet has she rubbed my ears. I love it here but I've never been been so cut on, poked and medicated in all my life! BUT, I've never been so happy, loved and cared for in all my life. So this is how the other half lives...I LIKE it!

I've been told I'm a very handsome (and obedient) dog but the humans in my life are quite obsessed with my heritage. So, to help them out, I'm reaching out to this forum (ain't Google great!) to see if any of the humans here can identify my handsome self ;) There have been breeds like Australian Cattle Dog, Blue Heeler and Dingo-mix tossed around. In fact, even tho my name is Howie (excuse me, I should have already introduced myself  ) my new family often calls me Dingo. They have pictures from the internet to support the theory and I must say, I do look like some of them. Strange tho, no one has ever told me I sound Aussie. But, I don't bark much at all and Dingos don't either. According to mom, I have a "different" type of whine...whatever that means! I'm very VERY sweet natured and obedient and good with grandchildren. A quick learner and according to my new parents, "too smart for my own good".

So here are a few pictures of myself. What do you think I might be (other than terribly dashing?) :D
ps...my tail is normally curled and touches my back.

Wel you don't say where you're from or how big you are so that would factor into our guesses. But just based off your photos I would say there's some Shiba Inu in there.
Please forgive me, this is my first time on the computer :( I don't know where I'm from originally. Right now I live in NE Texas. That Shiba Inu sure looks like it could be a relative alright, but the Canaan even more so. Mom just measured me from my little paw to the top of my front shoulder...16-17"

I think I've caught bits and pieces of chatter about of a DNA test. Sure hope I don't have to be poked again! I'm currently going thru heart worm treatment. It's no fun but I'm being a trooper (the drugs are helping:p ) First I lost my manhood and now this (sigh). The only upside is I get to live in the house for the next 2 months...maybe forever if I play my cards right :)

Thanks for your guesses at my heritage. Anyone else?
I don't have any guesses, but it sure as heck sounds like the dog landed on the right doorstep :)
Mom here...It's up for debate as to who rescued whom. Six weeks prior to finding Howie on our patio during a dangerously stormy night, we lost our 11 year old choc Lab due to kidney disease. She died in my arms at 2:40am. We'd had her since she was 6 weeks old. I was not handling the loss well and despite everyone telling us we needed to get a dog, I wasn't ready and may have never been ready. No way could I love another dog like I loved Carly. When I opened the patio door late one night and saw Howie, he ran away. I stood out in the rain and begged him to come back. He didn't. I just stood in the rain crying (over the loss of my Lab). Checked back before going to bed and he was back! This time I approached slowly and let the aroma of warm milk convince him to stay :)
He has healed and blessed my broken heart and I love him just as much as I ever did Carly. He is just wonderful a dog as she was but totally different. The news of heart worms was a shock! How could he be so active, look so healthy and show no signs and have heart worms? We went for a second opinion...he was positive. He's been housebound for nearly a month and we have two months to go. Might let him stay outside if it had been a different time of year but the heat (despite being in shade and with a fan blowing on him, would just be too hard on him. Our goal is to keep his heart rate down and blood pressure down during the protocol. Good thing I don't work because he has developed such a *crush* on me ;) that I can't leave the house without him having a full blown doggie panic attack. Heart rate and blood pressure UP! Even happens if my husband stays home with him. Doc gave him some doggie Xanax but I haven't had to use it yet.
ps...checked out the doggie DNA test and they don't seem to be terribly accurate.

He's a gorgeous dog! I'm glad that y'all found each other.

Husky x Lab would be my best guess.
Hummm, Husky and Lab is a first. Thanks.
Has anyone had any experience, or know of anyone with experience, using the doggie DNA tests?
