My name is Esther, I'm 26 years old and live in Switzerland. I have a boyfriend and a dog, both well educated
My dogs name's Eishun, he's five years old and a male Akita Inu. Stop! Don't thing about all the breed descriptions in books. A well trained Akita is a great dog.
Eishun loves everyone. I use him to explain children what it means to have a dog and how they should act when they meet a dog.
Of course Eishun likes not every other male dog. But at least we are able to pass every other dog without barking or pulling at the leash. Somethimes he's the only dog arount here which can do that.
I do some competitions with him (yes, an Akita can do obedience very well) and sometimes we go to dog sows (he's Swiss Champion).
I do dog sports since I was 14 years old. We have a lot of dog sport clubs here in Switzerland. You can become a member and then join a weekly training group. People don't come just a few times for basic training but over years to train a lot of different things. There are groups for every kind of dog, and there are also special groups for children between 10 and 20 years. We have special competitions for them and national championships too. I've been a trainer in such a "youth and dog" group for 8 years now and I do really appreciate the work with children and their dogs.
Feel free to ask a question if you have one.
And sorry for my English, I'm still learning
