I have a four month puppy who was extremely well toilet trained by 9 weeks. Of course accidents did happen but on the whole she was good, could toilet on command outside and went through the night with no accidents and never went in her crate (even when I made it full size as opposed to having a puppy barrier up to make it smaller). She hadn't learnt to tell us when she wanted out as I've always found that behaviour comes later but if we got one accident inside a week that was unlucky.
However, due to work I had to go overseas for just over 2 weeks. Instead of a commercial kennel she stayed with a professional dog trainer but apparently the first night there she toileted inside and then again in her crate. I wonder if she was quite unsettled as she is extremely attached to me and might not have been so happy about a new environment and a trainer she had met but was not so close to.
But the issue started was apparently the whole time she was their she went inside all the time and in her crate every night. Poos and wees.
Now that I've got her back home she has brought the habbit back. I wouldn't mind if it was just going back inside but the issue is that she no longer cares about going in the crate. This is a pain as it means that if I can't supervise her I can't just put her in the cate for half an hour like I used to in case she does go but it's often not good weather for her to be outside.
I've gone back to really treating her everytime she goes outside etc but I suppose the main issue is she'll just go in her crate. Does anyone have any advice? Last night she peed twice and pooped before going to bed and then I got up 3 hours into the night because I needed a drink and thought I'll just let her out again but she had already gone in her crate!!
