ugh poor Link. he has puppy acne going on, allergies to his food, loosing teeth, and now conjunctivitis. at least im 90% sure thats what it is. boy was i right when i said "there is no such thing as a 'free' dog". the teeth is normal, i can deal with that. but the smelly "blood breath" i could do without. the puppy acne, normal and we are dealing with it. the food allergy, i can tell you i can not wait to get him off of this food. they had been feeding him purina pro plan and its not good at all for him. (and im not saying this juse because i dont like purina) his hair is a little sparse in places from licking and scratching, his poops arent really good, and his skin/coat could be a lot better. it just stinks, they gave us a 20lb container of food when they dropped him. i dont have the heart to throw the food out while there are starving dogs out there. so he has been eating it and i have been giving Chloe some of it to try to make it go faster (since she never has any issues with food).

but today i wake up and look at him and he has the dreaded green eye boogies. ugh... great. im darn sure its conjunctivitis. his lower lid is a little red and inflamed too. at the moment we are just flushing it a few times a day and seeing where it goes from there. he has an appointment on the 4th at the vet so we will see what happens until then.

arg..... why..... 1 week ive had him and its already starting!

I'd also donate, however, I've heard that some shelters don't accept opened food. I've been having the same problem with my puppy. His right eye is starting to get the green gook, along with the inflamed eyelid. Although, one minute it will look fine, and the next minute he's not able to open it. It worries me... but he has an appointment on monday. I swear though, giving him eye drops makes me think of this one scene from the TV show Friends..

I'm curious about the "smelly blood breath." I've been noticing the same with my puppy, but when I look in his mouth, I can't actually SEE any blood. I know the smell sure does turn my stomach when he rolls over and yawns in my face at night, though.

He has a check-up this week so I'll mention it to his vet as well, but I'd never heard tell of it before so I'm wondering if it just has to do with teething (though he's only eleven-weeks-old so he's still a bit young for that) or if it's something else.

Change the food ...you are going to give yourself major vet bills over $10 of food!
the food did not cause the conjunctivitis. he probably picked it up from puppy socialization or the dog park. and im not causing and "major vet bills" over the food. (and btw it was way more than $10 of food). its not going to make a huge world of difference if the dog is on the food for 12 more days after i got him.

i would donate the food but its in a container with no bag. they wont take it.

yeah he would not be losing any teeth to be causing the smell of blood.

What do you think the cause would be? Do you know what the cause is for Link? Mozart got his tongue nicked last week, but that's long since healed.
for him its because hes losing a ton of teeth right now. im not sure why your dogs would smell like that though :ponder:
