I have a two year old great dane and when he would make rauling sounds I would put the command, "Ilove You" to it and it is working ok i guess but how do you get him to tell the difference between a bark and a raul? Also He lays down when I tell him to sit. Is that common with great danes? I have a YouTube video called, Giant Talking Dog. Am I doing this right?

My dog will lay down sometimes when I tell him to sit and I think it is because he normally associates "sit" followed by "down" so I will mix it up. Sometimes I will tell him to go straight to a down, sometimes I will tell him to sit, and if he lies down I redirect him into a sit.

Only reward the behavior you are asking for. Consistantly. Hes confused is all. If you reward a behavior (talking and eye contact can be rewards) it will be repeated :)

Also stop repeating yourself. Say "say I love you" ONE time and then wait for it..wait as long as you have to....when he does it say "YES" or "GOOD" to mark the moment he gets it right....Ignore the barking and reward when he does what you want. By saying "say I love you" over and over while he barks you are teaching him that that command means TO bark.

Hope that helps. Cute video
