Swimming in the Water Bowl

Our Yorkie-poo puppy has developed a new hobby, swimming in the water bowl.

We found out a few weeks ago that she loves water (as long as it isn't a bath) when we went to a local park that has a wading fountain. Now she's decided to bring the fun home by taking dips in the water bowls.

We have 2 large untippable bowls for our dogs and cats and, since she's still small (about 5.5 lbs), she can get in both bowls, at least partially. She splashes around and makes a big mess. It's funny to watch her antics though.

We've been trying to figure out a way to allow her to indulge in her new hobby without her making a mess several times a day. She doesn't like the tub. We've been thinking about getting a small plastic wading pool for her but of course that would be outside or in the garage.

I guess it's her poodle water dog genetics coming out. Is anybody elses dog a water fan, especially a small dog?

I'm sorry I don't have any other ideas besides dittoing the kiddie pool, or plastic storage container thingy, but I just want to say that is SO adorable, and I'd love to see a vid lol.

Dublin loves water, and wishes we had a kiddie pool (we're in an upstairs apt.), but he does make a frigging MESS every time he drinks water. All around the bowl (like at least a cup of water coming from the sides of his mouth as he drinks), and of course a trail from his face all over the kitchen floor. I've been thinking about getting the Neater Feeder, which may help your situation as well, along with providing the mini-pool outlet for her.
