I can understand that it feels like absolutely forever to you and that it must be a nightmare trying to keep your girl from damaging the wound the whole time. but I agree with Rain. it is looking SO much better and it is definitely healing beautifully. Hang in there! Sending you all our virtual support :huddle:

I do feel it is getting smaller. And the vet measures the wound each time she sees her and she says it is getting smaller too. The right side of the wound seems to be coming in pretty good. The wound bed is meeting nicely with the skin and definitely looks to be healing quicker than the left side of the wound.

My concern is that we have a big trip that is planned and paid for in May for our be-lated Honeymoon/1 year wedding anniversary. Which is less than 2 months away. No refunds. I am growing very anxious that this wound will not be healed before than.

The vet says that once the wound bed fills up, that the epithelial cells usually travel pretty quickly across it to close the wound. The granulating tissue that fills the wound bed is usually what takes the longest. This is my only experience with such a wound. So, I am growing anxious about this.

Congrats on your trip.

While it's hard to predict wound healing times, depends on the dog, wound size, biofilm, care etc... If your vet is fairly confident it will be fine then it should be. Some do heal remarkably fast once the conditions are right.

Even if it's not totally healed it will probably be much smaller and easier to care for.

Maybe a pet sitter would be willing to do some minor wound care if it's not totally gone?

Wound Update

Here's pictures from yesterday.

I am concerned about the little bubble-like looking things. I have no idea if this is part of normal granulation? Should I be concerned? Is it a good or bad thing? Her vet appointment is today (as she goes every friday). Any thoughts?
