Joined in hopes others don't have to endure what we have. Our 10 y/o ****zu- beagle girl started with a cough july 1, thought kennel cough but wasnt. Xrays and a respiratory rx with benedryl no help. Tried an antibiotic no help. Told to see rhinovirus specialist. Progressed in August to reverse sneezing benedryl not much help. Tried anti fungal also. Specialists performed ct, nose scope and biopsy with flushing cultures all negative. Purchased a nebulizer and hepa air cleaner and a humidifier. Referred to dentist, no fistula as suspected but did pull 10 incisors stage 4 peridontal disease. $4,000 later no improvement. Going on 3.5 months and i insisted the nasal discharge be tested after our dog sneezed a specimen in the vet office and low behold two bacterial infections were found. $18 Antibiotic started at 3.5 months and symptoms improving. Vets never said other antihistamines were an option but allerga is helping, non drowsy, with nebulizations in crate to loosen sinuses. Started Antibiotic round 2 and its working. Insist on cultures if yellow snot present. Dont let your pet suffer needlessly. We had 4 vets involved, but the obvious wast so obvious.
