Hi everyone,

I realize we may be getting ahead of ourselves, but do you think we should create separate sub forums for each dog breed where people can discuss that breed? Might that appeal to people who own that specific breed and encourage more people to participate? Or do you think we would be better off sticking with a single Dog Breeds forum as we have now?

It would be a long list, so we could add sub forums as we discover which breeds our members actually own. Also, since it might look unwieldy on the home page, the breed list could be set not to display unless a member clicks the Dog Breeds forum.

What does everyone think? Should we have sub forums for each breed, or a single Dog Breeds forum?

Thanks!

But I do think when you eventually do have a breed subforum, then you should have mutts included in there cause there is some crossbreeds on here. On our purebred forum in Australia they call their xbreeds m&ms :D

I think that would be over using sub-forums....there are hundreds of types of dogs out there......unless you are trying to have "The World's Longest Forum"...in which case, yeah that would win lol
But maybe just have sub-catagories like:

Small Breeds
Medium Breeds
Large Breeds

Or like
Hounds
Sporting Dogs
Toy Dogs
Terriers
(like the catagories they use at dog shows)

It does work, we do it in Australia. I have shown admin how we do it, but think we need to build on the forum first.

The catagories wouldnt work either cause Australians have all 3 poodle varieties in Non Sporting, in America the toy poodles go into toys.

Breed specific.

Mike has seen my page, so He already knows I have a Breed specific forum. In reality, there are 158 breeds in the AKC recognized groups.
If the board gets to have even one member per recognised breed, it would be hard for any person to moderate the whole board, I chose to make my forum moderated by breed, size and occupation.

All in all, I expect if my board works some day, I will have over 100 moderators "Breeders" taking care of their specific area of the board and probably not having enough time to deal with it all. Rather then have multiple forums with the same theme, Might be an idea to affiliate the boards?

Here are the 158 Breeds.
