Hello, I have a Husky/Australian Shepherd mix puppy and I've noticed that the fur on her back happens to be two to three times longer than everywhere else on her body. It lays down weirdly and has more of a heavy course feeling to it that's different from the rest of her fluffy body. It also looks greasy.

Is this okay to trim a little? I've heard you're not supposed to cut the hair of huskies so I wanted to double check, or find an alternative solution.

Thank you :)

On closer inspection, she seems to be having some dandruff as well. I think I'm going to need to set up a vet appointment, I can just ask them then.

How old is she?

Personally I would not cut her fur, she's double coated, and double coated puppies go through an ugly duckling stage as they lose their puppy coat and their adult coat grows in. What you need to do is keep her brushed so that her coat grows in properly and does not get matted. Depending on her age I'd either use a pin brush, or a slicker brush. Make sure to keep brushing sessions short and fun, aim to do just a couple strokes at first, on whatever part of her body you are working on, and pair it with great treats so she learns that grooming time is very rewarding. So two strokes, then yummy treat, another couple strokes more treats, once that body part is tangle free release her. It'll also help to brush her when she's tired.
