My 12 year old shar pei has pus in his ear, and what appears to be a fluid filled sac under his ear. I'm assuming it's an ear infection....he's shaking his head, it's tende to touch and he feels fevered. What antibiotics are safe to give him? How can I treat him at home until I see the vet in 36 hours?

I would not give him antibiotics without consulting with a vet. If he's got a big abscess the proper treatment would include draining it. Is there any chance of getting him into an emergency vet sooner?

Definitely see the vet first. It's important to complete antibiotic courses, if the vet wanted to do a different treatment you could do more harm than good.
