I have a 12lb 'shihpoo' named Freyja that needs a new collar, harness, and leash. I've fallen in love with the rope collars and leashes like these and these.

Has anyone used products like these? Will rope wear on her fur or cause it to mat?

I also like these hemp harnesses from Planet Dog and Puppia vests.

Can anyone make recommendations on any of these products? I'd prefer them to be comfy for my dog, easy to get on and off, and cute. Thanks for any advice!

I have never used any of these products, however I think a leash like that could only be comfortable if your dog is trained, so you will not have any problem holding on. We have a lumino leash that we love. My favorite thing about it is that it is waterproof, and glows in the dark for a few hours. Great for night walks.

I think it would be rough on the dogs coat and your hands. Braided things tend to be uncomfortable. I have the puppia vests for my little dogs (maltese). Love them because they do not apply pressure to om their tracheas.

When my girl was a puppy, she used a Puppia and it fit really nice. Now that she's grown up, they don't fit her as well.

Those rope collars are really cute. I don't think the rope would hurt, it looks pretty soft... I lead my horse around with a rope and I've never had a rope burn. If you like to leave the collar on 24/7, I might look into something else, like leather. Honestly, I've had worse injuries from nylon than rope.

Unless the collar is snagging in her fur I don't think it matters too much to the dog what it's made out of.
