Reminder dog is outside

Does anyone know of a product or have an idea that would remind my mother she let the dog out? She usually let's him out then uses the bathroom, then let's him in afterwards. Lately she has forgotten about him. Any help would be appreciated. Thank you.

There are lots of tech devices that work as memory aids but I'm not aware of any that would ”know” she had left the dog outside. If she left the door ajar, there might be something that tells her 'the door is open' after several minutes but if she did that, the dog would likely get in himself. Or, she could have something programmed to say ”where's the dog” every hour but that's overkill.

You could go non-tech and have her tie the dog's leash round her neck when she let's him out, but that relies on her remembering to do that?

Maybe look at it from the opposite direction. Could you train the dog to ring a bell when he needs in?

A video doorbell camera attached to an alarm buzzer might work. It must have motion detection, so the dog would set it off, as well as any visitors.

Easiest solution I can see is not to leave the dog unattended outside - can't forget them if you're outside with them.

Thank you so much for your reply. I thought about training dog to ring a bell, but he is almost 9 yo and he's a stubborn one...lol. I almost widsh he was a dog that scratched and scratched to let him in, but he will sit all day and night by door till someone let's him in. I am thinking maybe a camera that would stream to living room TV and had a camera view at all times on TV. Thank you for your input.
