my "Reste-Curry" (Leftover-Curry):

You need for 6 persons:
-500 g rice
-1 pack of coconut milk
-all kind of random vegetables you find in your fridge
-some kind of random meat or fish, whatever you've got in your fridge
(no sausages or minced meat though, it has to be in a piece and unseasoned)
-fresh Peppermint and fresh parsley
-salt and pepper
-unseasoned/unsweetened white yoghurt
-1 piece fresh ginger
- not-to-strong-flavoured oil (for example sunflower)
-mustard seeds
- pili pili or fresh hot pepper according to your taste
-powdered curcuma
-garam masala powder
-1 non-sprayed lemon
______________________________________

-> mix the curcuma, the chili, the garam masala and a bit of the mustard seed with the oil in a big bowl until it is some globby, oily mash at the ground of the bowl

->peal and rasp the ginger put it in the bowl

-rasp the skin of the lemon off and put it in the bowl

->cut the meat/fish in small pieces and put it in the bowl

-> mix everything together until the meat is fully covered with the seasoning

-> forget about it for a few hours

-> while waiting start cutting up the vegetables in small pieces

-> cut up the peppermint and the parsley, mix it with the yoghurt and season it with pepper and salt

-> start cooking the rice

-> take a big deep pan and carefully roast the rest of the mustard seeds (no oil)

-> put the marinated meat in the pan and start to roast it until it's getting brown and the meat is cooked

-> put the coconut milk and hard vegetables in than needs a longer time for cooking

(-> make sure your rice doesn't burn: when the water is cooking turn off the flame)

-> put in juice of the lemon

-> put the vegetables in, that needs less time to be cooked

-> let it cook a few minutes

-> eat.

the yoghurt also fits good to other stuff like couscous dishes for example.
it makes also easier to eat for people that have a lower tolerance for hot things, like my little sister. :)

Creamy Tomato Soup

Ingredients:
  • 1 medium onion, chopped finely
  • 2 tsp salt
  • 2 1/4 tsp dried basil
  • 3 tbsp flour
  • 1 tsp black pepper
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/2 tsp sugar
  • 3 cups chicken stock
  • 25 oz. diced tomatoes
  • 26 oz. crushed tomatoes
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 3 tbsp chopped fresh basil.
Instructions:

  1. Heat some oil in your pot and saute the onions until soft (about 2 minutes)
  2. Add salt, pepper, dried basil, flour, and whisk in the chicken broth.
  3. Add the diced and crushed tomatoes.
  4. Cook for 20 minutes.
  5. Whisk baking soda and sugar into the hot mixture.
  6. Add the cream and fresh basil.
  7. Simmer for about five minutes.

I mentioned this in another thread and @LoveLola said I should share here :) This is delicious as a soup, but it's amazing over noodles. We usually whip some up, eat it as soup one night, keep it as leftovers and have over pasta the next day. So, so good. Enjoy!

traditional German "Sunday Roast"/Sonntagsbraten

You need:
- the three p: porc meat, Potatoes and a pretty cook
- fresh green beans
- savory (the german name is "Bohnenkraut" ->"bean herb")
- salt and pepper
-onion
-wine
-butter
- family, friends or both

this is how it's done:
- take a glass of good red wine and fill it in the cook (if you think they deserve it, your family and/or friends can have a glass too)
- clean the meat
- rub it with salt and pepper
- roast it on a big flame until it is brown
- add water
- put it in the oven at 200°C
- douse with the meat juice from time to time
- wait for over an 1 hour, drink more wine and entertain your family are friends with bad jokes
- clean the green beans
- cook or steam them for a few minutes until they're done
- chop the onion and the savory
-peal the potatoes and start cooking them with a bit of salt for around 20-30 min
-melt the butter in a pan
- put the green beans (without the water) together with the savory and the onion in the pan and roast them with a bit of salt and pepper 'til they're brown.
-after around 1/2- 2 hours the roast is done and you can take it out
- serve Potatoe, the roasted green beans and the meat with more wine...slightly dry red wine fits better than white wine are rosé, in my opinion.

This looks yummy. I might have to try it. For those of us in the US, 200 grams is almost 8 oz. or 1 Cup.

I will have to substitute gluten free flour and Splenda for the sugar, though.

I wonder what the difference is between this and a chocolate soufflé?

Had anybody tried food apps to search for new recipes? I found the list of those and don't know which one to choose. Maybe it doesn't worth installing it? If anybody had such experience I would be grateful for your recommendations.
