my dog is small/medium and about 3 years old. sometimes his stomach gurgles but this time its very loud! its almost 1am its been going on for about an hour id say. i let him out to poop and (i think) he did, after eating a lot of grass. i dont really watch him usually when i let him out as he takes to long so i just let him roam around the yard. usually when its this late, he comes back quickly but tonight he stayed out for quite a while. when i say the gurgling is loud, i mean it really is pretty loud and its concerning me. i think he might’ve had a hard time pooping. i really should pay more attention to him when hes in the yard but sometimes when i see him, he’s just squatting and failing to poop anything out. and once, his poop was stuck and my mum pulled it out. (it was gross and i felt bad for him) so i guess hes constipated and i dont know if his gurgling right now is related. im sorry if this was too long but im really concerned with his upset tummy & bowel habits! does anyone have any tips? should i take him to the vet? (id really rather not resort to that bc im short on money at the moment and my other good boy was attacked by another dog so that really put a dent in my bank account)

Get a video recording of it to show your vet. It's more effective than just saying that his stomach makes loud noises. He should be checked to see what the cause is. You may be able to get an exam for under $50 if you call around to check prices. My vet is only $43.

If you are worried about your dog then maybe you should run him by a vet just to make sure.

But if that is not an option for you guys right now, maybe try a few things for a few days and see how it goes.

I personally look at all my three dogs' poops when I scoop them from my yard every morning. Their poop can be a good indicator of their physical health and having Gracie, my cautious, somewhat fearful dog, I can generally tell how she is mentally feeling by her pooping habits (anxious bc of a situation or stormy weather, etc)

Also I have noticed sometimes my dogs, esp Gracie, will have dry/hard/ constipation poop issues after giving her some types of chewy stuff. Can this have anything to do with your dog?

Anyway, when my dogs have tummy issues my first "go to" is a bit of canned pumpkin mixed in with their meals or other food. NON SWEETENED canned pumpkin--about $1 a the grocery store. Our store has it on the baking aisle. For my little 15 lb Sparky, about a teaspoon and our 40-50 lbs dogs a tablespoon or two approx depending on the situation. I had this recommended to me by on of my vets for stomach issues!

Again, see a vet if the problems continue!

Gurgling tummy sounds can indicate hunger, also give a bigger water bowl & fill it with boiled cooled water. Change it each day, too much dry food & not enough real fresh meat can cause it. Hot weather or hot inside from heaters can be a contributing cause Dont take your dog out in baking hot sun, do walks early or later, frozen ice cubes for your dog to eat may help. ( you can freeze treats inside like berries) Check frequently your dogs nose, it shouldnt be dry, that can be a sign of dehydration which can cause constipation. My dog has taken a liking to milk so if your dog doesnt drink much water, you could try pet milk from the supermarket.

Ours occasionally has that issue, really loud stomach gurgling sounds. I have given her 1/2 of a Pepcid tablet, which so far has always helped. If it persists into a second day, I would certainly suggest getting to a Vet for a medical evaluation.
