I'm at work and my girlfriend sent me a picture of my dog's mouth claiming he has a rash around his mouth, she sent me a picture and it's starting to worry me. I just need a professional opinion because I don't get the best vibe from my vet and the next closest one is an hour away. Also every time I go I can't leave without them charging me hundreds of dollars for random shots and pills.

This is from my phone so sorry for the short subject.

Nobody can Dx or Tx -- other than a vet.

There are serious legal consequences for "practicing medicine without a license". It's a criminal charge.
To boot, anyone who makes anything but 1st-aid suggestions can be sued, for civil damages, if the dog's owner THINKS that the person made the wrong suggestion.

I wouldn't expect many volunteers - U need a vet; if U don't like the practice U currently patronize, U must choose another. :( Sorry.

Holy crap, I didn't know this. So what about all the sites that recommend remedies for various medical issues on pets?

that slippery slope...

Anyone can say, "this worked for my pet...", & go on to explain what combo of meds / diet / baths, whatever it was, helped Ur dog, cat,
ferret, _____ . That's personal experience. // It might be X meds prescribed by a specialist, or a long-established OTC that needs no scrip, or a supplement added to their diet.

I can also say, "That LOOKS LIKE what my dog's [body part] looked like, when s/he had ________ ." That's opinion - which also isn't impersonating a Dr.

It's when i say, THAT IS ________ , & "U need to ________ .", that things get tricky. If it's just bog-standard 1st-Aid, no problem - but if i diagnose a slipping patella from a video, i dam*ed well better have a DVM.

U can always say, "it looks like it might be ______ ." // In this case, i have no idea what Ur poor dog has - but it looks either painful or itchy, & in any case, i'd see my vet, toot sweet.

Hope it's something easy to fix,
