Question about possibly infected incision/ neutering

Hello!

I am new to this forum and new to having a dog. We rescued a German Shepherd a few weeks back and he got neutered on Monday, December 7th.

He has had his cone of shame on for the majority of the time after his surgery. The only time he has it off is to eat. However, sometimes when he's eating and he has it off, he dives for his balls and tries to lick/scratch them. He's done that a few times now and I am starting to worry about his incision site being infected.

I included a close up photo of the incision site. I have no idea whether this looks normal or not. It doesn't have an odor and there is no discharge (as far as I can tell) but I'm hoping someone with experience can let me know whether this is worrisome or not.

Its probably ok, but it couldn't hurt to have your Vet check it, just to be absolutely sure. An infection that becomes systemic can be fatal.
