Our boy Roscoe is approximately 8 weeks old and we're beginning his basic training. As he's still very much a baby and he's only been home a couple days now, we're still trying to figure out what motivates him and what foods will entice him. What are some good treats for a pup this young? We adopted him from a rescue organization, so he has not really had any variety in his diet up until now and we're easing him into new foods/treats, but we definitely would like to find some high-value treats to entice him with during his training sessions. Any suggestions are appreciated.

boiled chicken or lean ground turkey would be high value treats that's easy on the stomach.

You can also try bits of hotdog, lean ground beef, egg, cheese, etc. Whatever you use make sure ot break it up into little pieces around the size of a pea. That way he doesn't get to full and it's easier on the stomach. When he does something really good you can feed a few pieces at once. For random rewards for good behavior you can toss him one or two pieces. Also be careful with cheese, some dogs are lactose intolerant.

Homemade treats is super easy. Dehydrated is best as they last for at least 2 months in the fridge. And they are healthy, nutritious plus free of preservatives and coloring. Please don't buy those made in China. If they can have such evil stuffs in baby formula you can imagine what's in pet food from China.

I love using these for training because they are already pretty small and are perfect for training. Just be careful not to feed too much in one training session (but that's a concern with any treat).
