Good evening all!
Just looking for a bit of advice. I have a 5 month old French Bulldog. It seems as though he doesn’t want to play with other dogs at all, he’s happy and friendly going up to them saying hello but then loses interest and doesn’t want to play even if the other dog does. He meets lots of dogs everyday so it’s not as if he’s under socialised and he has a few closer friends that we meet with pretty much every week and he still won’t play with them. Is there anything I can do to help or encourage him to play or will he eventually come round??? I’m just worried he’s a bit sad or lonely and would like him to have some friends to play with! Any advice much appreciated!(y)

I wouldn't try. Far better for him not to be magnetised to other dogs, so his focus can be on you, rather than ignoring you if other dogs are around.

It is no more natural for dogs to be friends with every dog they meet than for you to greet every random stranger you pass in the supermarket.

Yeah I never thought of it that way. He’s much more interested in the attention of the people than he is the dogs. I just thought that at only 5 months he’d still have that playful/curious temperament. Perhaps he’s maturing a little early, who knows, I won’t push him if it’s something he doesn’t want to do. Thank you
