Hi everyone!

Does anybody have experience with dogs being reunited with puppies who have been weaned and adopted for some time?

We recently adopted a wonderful little dog, no more than a year old, who had one puppy by C section, (the others didn't survive) and nursed him during crate rest to heal a broken pelvis. (She is doing great now! You'd never know her life has been so traumatic or that she suffered any injury. The rescue organization who fixed her up was incredible.) The puppy was adopted a few months ago. There is an opportunity for our doggie to have a visit with her growing puppy, which of course sounds like a ton of fun to me, but would this be traumatic for her? She even reacts to the slightest puppy sound on TV, I'm worried that it would inevitably be hard for her. If I were her, I don't know how I would feel.

Thanks for the help!

Dogs dont look at family the way we do. I did rescue and adopted the mother dog and found homes for the puppies. One of the puppies came back after about 6 months and the mother dog did not want to have anything to do with the pup. She was actually kind of aggressive.

I was unfortunate enough to be at a friends house, who breeds mastiff's.
the Dam had a litter 4 months previously and the new owner thought itd be a great reunion to bring this pup onto the property, off leash without phoning first, ignoring the large sign on gate that said "NO DOGS" to see its "mum"

Mum was not happy, attempted to kill the intruder, expensive vet bill!

She justified entering, as i was there with my 2 dogs. So she thought it would be ok to come in. Silly lady.

My 4 and 1/2 month old pup sees his mom probably every 3ish weeks since I brought him home at 8 weeks, and he is always thrilled to see her, and she definitely enjoys seeing/checking up on her puppies, and then she gets tired of their puppy antics and tells them to back off :) I think it would be nice to try a visit!
