I have a 3 month old Jack Russell X Westie puppy named Freyja. As you can imagine from the breeds she has a lot of energy, however on walks she'll randomly decide to stop and lie down. Usually on a patch of grass but today in the middle of a road. Good job it was a quiet cul-de-sac she did it on! I've checked her paws and they're clean and not rubbed or hot and when she gets back home she'll run rings around the living room or back garden so I don't think it's an energy thing. I don't want to start giving her treats when she does though as I feel that would be encouraging the behaviour. Any advice?

Carry high value treats with you. Offer them when Freyja is walking with you. Remember she is a puppy with a short attention span. How long are your walks?
