Thank you!Wow, such a cute lil dog, and obedient at such an early age, I'm impressed is he yours?
Wow, that must've been ruff on him, and at such a young age, poor thing glad he's well now though, this is what? your 6th dog now? where do you get the money? lol
In the video you'll notice I'll say "touch" and hold out a fist and the dog will touch my hand. No matter where my hand is. Theres no food in my hand either. What a little love bug! Now can you explain to me what is meant by targeting?
heres a detailed article...How do you teach targeting or touch?
Emma offered it one day in submission and I click/treated and evertually gave it a cue (pointing and bang bang )Haha, saw the video of Emma. That was good. How do you teach a dog to play dead?
No worries, its all basic...once you get the idea down, you'll know how to troubleshoot stuff!Emma is adorable! And I was quite impressed with the fact that she was given no treats...at least that I saw.
My boys are now coming in the house every single time without fail. Rascal isn't balking at all. They get treats every single time without fail. How do you train without treats?
I'm probably asking really basic stuff but I've never really had any idea about how to do it before!
You basically teach the behavior backwards... you start with teaching the dog to mouth the toy...then hold the toy with your hand on it, then hold the toy without your hand on it...Ok, since you're so willing to help.........
We now have the "come" thing set. Although I don't usually even have to call them now, they just come when they see/hear the door open.
How do I get Rascal to fetch? He loves when I throw his toys and he runs like the wind to get them. But not ONE TIME has he ever even accidentally brought it back to me.
Some dogs may need a few sessions to get it (or they might be a genius and get it right away) so don't get discouraged! Let me know how it goes or if you get stuckI'm printing this out and we're going to give it a shot! Rascal loves to chase his toys but not a single time has he brought one back. We'll try what you said and see if I can get it right.
That video was amazing! Thanks for posting it!
