Hello all,

We are waiting on our new addition to arrive in December. We are looking at things we will need and getting ready ( I'm always early!).

Our new arrival is a whoodle and off the website the breeders recommend a crate size of 30"-42" for a medium size dog. Our dog will be in the 35 Lbs range.

Looking at that crates that seems like a large window of choices.

I ruled out the 30" crate and after using my measuring tape I narrowed it down to the 36" or 42".

36 INCH 36 x 23 x 25 inches

42 INCH 42 x 28 x 30 inches

Is it better to error on side of caution and go the larger size ?
(I just don't want the dog to be to tight as it grows)

Secondly, It's been a while, how long do we use the crate for?
Until it is properly trained and becomes an adult?
(just been a long time since we've done this. Just nervous).

Thanks all!

Not due about the right size but if you use the crate properly from the start and build only positive associations it will be a lifelong safe place for your dog to retreat to, for a rest, to escape noisy children and when they need to be transported. It can also be very helpful if you end up with an anxious dog who needs to know that they can be “off duty.”
