Bus doesn't like the pool as much when it's too cold, but after a week of 90+ degree days, it's like bathwater :) In fact, it was so warm that I had to limit the length of time swimming before taking a break each time because he was equally hot coming out as going in!

He's also finally worked up the nerve to start jumping off the bulkhead, despite it being a pretty low tide the last few days (so it's pretty high up). I think he likes the life jacket, as it keeps him from being (as) submerged when he jumps in. Why that would bother a dog who chooses to dive under water and collect items, I can't even begin to guess, but it's the only explanation I can come up with :)

A couple of thoughts. 1.) That Dachshund of yours has a heckuva vertical leap !!!! 2.) That Dachsund of yours sure is having fun in the pool and probably motivates his vertical leap.
A swimming place on a hot day and the dog enjoying the water just makes everyone happy.

Nice!

Thanks :)

He's pretty agile, there's not much in the house that's safe from him since he can jump and climb like a goat! He even jumped up onto the edge of his expen once (3' tall), and walked along it like a highwire act- we joke that he's got core muscle of steel from all the begging he does.

You would be correct about his motivation, he doesn't really bother with the pool unless his ball is in it (he'd probably try to jump the moon for his ball!), but he does like to take a dip in my mom's pond on hot days to cool off- she hates it because he knocks everything over sliding in like a seal :)
